This is a guest article submitted by Sasha Britton of Gym Source...

A recent story on NPR sheds some light on evidence that may help keep you from one thing that everyone dreads- catching a cold or flu this season. The British Journal of Sports Medicine study cited found that people who exercised 5 days a week got sick for 40% fewer days than those who did so one day or less. While the exact reason why this is the case is still only speculation in the scientific community, there seems to be a clear correlation here. A similar study by the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle found results that mirror these findings as well.

Not necessarily my soul, rather my mental and emotional core. It is through this spirit, what in Taijiquan we identify as Shen, that I strive to pull myself out of bed in the morning and exercise, that I hold firm to eating only a healthy portion and that I eat more whole and nutritional food.As I work toward a healthy lifestyle, detaching myself from my poor dietary choices and sedentary ways, I find myself relying on that which some would call the spirit--not necessarily my soul, rather my mental and emotional core--to accomplish this goal.
My apologies to John Lennon for paraphrasing his famous phrase: "War is Over (if you want it)," and maybe that should be the title of this article, as we're often at war with ourselves when we are seeking happiness. A few months ago I talked about how Relaxation is who you are, and in this case happiness is not something we obtain from outside ourselves, it comes from within. It's yours, it's there, it has and always will be there (even if you haven't noticed it).
